The SSC Stenographer exam comprises two stages:

  1. Computer Based Exam (CBE):
    • General Awareness: 50 questions, 50 marks
    • General Intelligence & Reasoning: 50 questions, 50 marks
    • English Language & Comprehension: 100 questions, 100 marks
    • Total: 200 questions, 200 marks
    • Duration: 2 hours (2 hours 40 minutes for eligible scribes)
    • Negative marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer
  2. Skill Test in Stenography:
    • Stenographer Grade C: 10 minutes dictation at 100 w.p.m., transcription time – 40 minutes (English), 55 minutes (Hindi)
    • Stenographer Grade D: 10 minutes dictation at 80 w.p.m., transcription time – 50 minutes (English), 65 minutes (Hindi)

  3. Fill in the basic details and submit.
  4. Log in with the Registration ID, date of birth, and password.
  5. Complete the registration by uploading the required documents.
  6. Preview the application form and submit.
  7. Pay the application fee.
  8. Download and print the submitted application form for future reference.
