Junior Hostel
 

The primary wing of the school has an impressive and artistically designed hostel with the enchanting statue of Bala Krishna playing on the flute on the front. It lodges all the girls, junior and senior, and boys upto class VII. Boys and girls are housed in separate dormitories. The bright and well-ventilated dormitories make for comfortable and collective living. Each child has his/her own individual bed space and large shelf area to keep their clothes and other items of personal use. Mattresses, Bedspreads, Pillows, etc. are provided by the hostel.

 
Higher Secondary School Boys' Hostel
 

The hostel for the higher secondary school boys is an imposing and elegant edifice. This hostel housing all boys from class VIII to XII was inaugurated by Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba on July 23rd, 1995. This spacious building is self-sufficient in all respects. Safeguarding and promoting good health of the students is the foremost among other concerns of the hostel. It is for this reason that the hostel maintains an exceptional level of cleanliness.

 
Hostel Facilities
 

The hostel is truly a model for nurturing a sound body and steady mind for the students. It is self-sufficient in all respects and geared to take care of every need of the student.The various kinds of services provided for the students inside the hostel premises itself are as below:

Medical facilities: The health of the children is adequately watched over in the hostel. It has a well-equipped dispensary under the care of a professional Medical Practitioner. No stone is left unturned when it comes to the physical well being of any child. The students are periodically examined by E.N.T., Eye and Dental specialists. Also the services of the General and the Super-Speciality Hospitals, which are located in the vicinity, are extended to the inmates of the hostel whenever necessary.

Multi-purpose Hall: The hostel has an airy and versatile hall, which is used for various purposes. It serves as a Dining Hall, Prayer Hall as well as a Performance Hall for various extra-curricular and co-curricular activities of the hostel.

Other in-house facilities: The hostel has a number of other services in-house to make the stay of the student at the hostel a pleasant experience. They include -

  1. A general stores stocking every possible item, from pencils and pins to buckets and bags, as may be required by the students.
  2. A library and reading room with a variety collection of general knowledge and children story books apart from comics and other light reading material.
  3. An audio-visual parlour to provide wholesome entertainment on weekends and on other special occasions.
  4. A computer room with Internet connectivity and multimedia facility with restricted access.
  5. A telephone booth with multiple land lines for incoming as well as outgoing calls.
  6. For artistically inclined students the hostel has ample facilities to pursue their interests of painting, drawing, etc. in their leisure time.
  7. For boys keen on indoor games like carom, chess, etc., the hostel has spacious patios.

    Other than these, the hostel has special rooms and people employed for services like laundry, saloon, etc.
 
Hostel Mess
 
The hostel mess caters to all the food and nutritional requirements of the students. They are served a well-balanced and strictly vegetarian diet along with milk at the hostel. The menu for all meal sessions is changed regularly to provide variety and wholesome nourishment.

Kitchen: The kitchen is well maintained to ensure high standards of hygiene. It is also well furnished with modern methods of cookery replete with contemporary cooking gadgets.

Sick Ward Pantry: There is also a separate Sick Ward Pantry to prepare special diets as per doctor's advice for students not keeping good health.

 
Hostel Charges
 
The hostel collects Rs. 15,000 from the students of Class I to Class XII for an academic year towards Boarding and Maintenance expenses. In addition, an amount of Rs.1,500 is charged as caution deposit from students of class I to XII (one time only) which is refundable after the student's education in the school is complete. The full amount has to be paid to the Hostel in advance at the time of admission.
 
A Striking Feature
 
A wonderful facet of the hostel is that all the services within the hostel are all manned and managed by the students themselves. Whether it is managing the general stores and fruit stall, hostel library and the reading room, serving in the dinning hall, maintaining the dietary kitchen, looking after the hostel garden, running the weekend entertainment presentations, looking after the upkeep of the prayer hall shrine or any other service, boys are encouraged to voluntarily take up some responsibility as per their liking and interests. It serves to infuse in them the virtues of service, co-operation and dignity of labour, besides providing them invaluable work experience.
 
Daily Schedule
 
The daily routine of activites for the students in the hostel and the school are tabled below:

Night Prayer & Sleeping times are fixed differently according to the age group of the students.
 
Code of Conduct and Regulations
 

A cultured Code of Conduct is a time-honoured and long cherished tradition of the hostel. Every student is exhorted to observe the rules and regulations whole-heartedly and in right spirit.

  1. Each student is expected to sincerely practise obedience and reverence to teachers and elders, as Baba says, Humility is the hallmark of a good student. Mutual courtesy and gentlemanly behaviour also is as important as it will promote peace and harmony among the students.
  2. Students are expected to wear decent and unostentatious dress and maintain short and well-groomed hairstyle. The students are not supposed to sport moustache, beard and long side burns.
  3. Voluntarily maintaining silence during mass gatherings like assembly, in dining hall, inside classroom, inside Mandir etc. is expected from every student. Indulging in loud talk and idle chat is inexcusably condemned.
  4. Punctuality is a must in the disciplined life pattern at the hostel. All students are expected to be in time for all sessions whether in school or in the hostel.
  5. Leaving the hostel premises for any reason other than attending School and Mandir, without explicit permission from the warden is not encouraged. Overnight stay outside the hostel is forbidden.
  6. In the event of a student's presence being absolutely required at home, other than during the vacation, he/she should furnish the following to the Warden along with the leave application:
    a) The requisition letter from the parent.
    b) Permission letter from the School authority / the Doctor-in-charge (in case, it is for health reasons).
    The Warden, then, at his discretion may permit the student to go home and return to the hostel within the stipulated time.
  7. Parents / guardians alone are permitted to meet their wards between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sundays only and not on any other holiday. No visitor is permitted to meet any student on working days.
  8. Personal possession of Iron box, tape recorder or transistor, video games etc. is not allowed in the hostel.
  9. All students are required to maintain high standard of personal cleanliness and room cleanliness as well as the cleanliness of the surroundings.
  10. Students are not encouraged to keep any ready cash or valuables with them.
  11. Students are expected to write letters once a week to their parents.

Any breach of the rules and regulations mentioned above is not tolerated. The hostel and school authorities reserve the right to expel any student from the hostel and the school at any time of the year if his/her behaviour is found wanting.
